After this seemingly never-ending winter, we can finally see spring is just around the corner. The groundhog didn’t see his shadow this winter so hopefully spring will come soon. While the idea of spring and nice weather is great, is your home ready to enjoy it too? Here are some helpful cleaning tips to freshen your home before spring.
During winter, it sometimes becomes hard to get rid of things or find new homes for them. Spring-cleaning is the perfect opportunity to get rid of the clutter you’ve been holding on to. By first getting rid of unwanted stuff or organizing other things back into their proper places, you will have an easier time getting to the heart of spring cleaning with dusting and mopping.
Clean your linens
While washing your bed sheets is an obvious spring-cleaning tip, many people forget to care for their other linens throughout their home. We suggest cleaning your drapes, couch, throw pillows, and basically anything with a fabric surface. Drapes can be a difficult linen to wash because you have to iron them when they get wrinkly. For a quick clean, try throwing your curtains in the dryer for a few minutes to get rid of unnecessary dust without making your drapes wrinkly.
Dust, Dust, DUST
Sometimes, it’s all too easy to forget just how much dust can be hiding in the nooks and crannies of your home. Ceiling fans are the biggest problem when it comes to dust because they collect a ton of it. Make sure to dust off your ceiling fans, but remember to clean those other hard to reach places like the tops of cabinets or underneath the coffee table.
Don’t forget the floors!
Cleaning the floors can be a simple and easy spring-cleaning task that you can cross off of your list. Vacuum the carpets, sweep the tile floor, mop the hardwood floors, etc. For a deeper clean, remember to move around furniture that may be hiding dust and dirt beneath them. Also, check underneath kitchen cabinets and appliances to make sure the floor beneath them is getting cleaned.
